Fernando J. Portuondo is an attorney with 25 years of experience in Real Estate Law, Corporate and Business Law, Condominium and Association Law, and Real Property and Commercial Litigation. Fernando emphasizes a practical, value-added approach to help his clients find cost-effective solutions to meet their legal, business and personal objectives. He is Preeminent AV Rated, the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell.
Fernando graduated from Tulane Law School in 1995, where he obtained his Juris Doctor degree Cum Laude and was selected for a Federal Judicial Clerkship while in law school. He was a publishing writer and editorial member the Tulane Journal Of International And Comparative Law and was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award. Prior to law school, Fernando completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in 1992 and was selected for the Dean’s List, Pre-Legal Honorary Society, Sigma Tau Sigma Honorary Tutorial Society, and Inter-Fraternity Council Scholar Society.
Fernando has been a title agent for Attorneys’ Title Insurance Fund, Inc. and Old Republic National Title Insurance Company for 21 years and has received The Fund President’s Circle Award multiple times, which recognizes an elite group of the top 100 agents statewide out of a membership in excess of 4,000. He is admitted to practice law by the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. Fernando has been a member of the Florida Bar, Real Property, Probate & Trust Section, the Dade County Bar Association, Real Property Law Committee, the Coral Gables Bar Association, and the Cuban American Bar Association. He is a member of the Belen Alumni Lawyers’ Section and prior Director of the Belen Architecture, Construction, Real Estate Section (ACRES).
Fernando has lectured extensively both domestically and abroad on commercial and residential real estate matters, domestic and international corporate and business law, landlord-tenant law, and title insurance. A significant portion of his practice is dedicated to assisting foreign companies and individuals in acquiring, developing, selling, and investing in U.S. real and personal property interests.
When he is not focused on his client’s matters, Fernando enjoys boating, fishing, sports and spending time with his children and wife.
